PENSION ADVICE & RETIREMENT PLANNING

You will probably have accumulated an assortment of

insurance company pension policies over the years on

the basis of "You need to have a new provider so as to

diversify your investments". You will have no idea of the

value of those policies and little idea of how much they

will provide for you at retirement. Does that sound

familiar?

We can provide you with arrangements that will bring

the value of all these policies together under the one

master policy. You will be able to see the total value

of the policies online at any time of night or day. Does

that sound better?

You will be able to see just where your funds are

invested, not only in the individual funds but you will

also be able to recognise more easily which asset

classes you are invested in and be able to calculate

what percentage of your investments are in each

asset class. Can you see the benefits of such an

arrangement? Wouldn't you feel more comfortable

being in control of your pension investments?

Once you have wrested control from the insurance

companies and now have ownership, you will feel so

much better, far less frustrated and be more confident

in planning ahead. You will be able to implement

investment strategies that suit you personally instead

of being one of thousands in a strategy devised by

the insurers.

Consolidation of pension arrangements isn't suitable

for everyone and if you would like to see if you could

benefit, please contact us.

Pension Simplification was introduced in April 2006 and whilst it does make pensions simple to understand for anyone starting a new pension arrangement, the rules have made life very complicated for many who already had arrangements in place. These complications could lead to mistakes being made and heavy penalties being imposed on your pension funds. If you have any doubts about the course of action you propose to take with any of your pension arrangements, it might be in your interests to contact us for advice.

We have offices in Shefford, near Bedford, for pensions advice within the Milton Keynes, Cambridge, Welwyn Garden
City, Harpenden and St Albans region, and in London.

Pension planning can be so much more personal and

relevant to you as an individual and you should ensure

that you take maximum advantage. A Self Invested

Personal Pension (SIPP) policy can give you control and therefore a feeling of greater security. You can even

include commercial property as an asset in your SIPP

and many businesses work from the property they hold in

the SIPP. Imagine paying rent into your own pension fund instead of to an unconnected party.

If you are unlikely to want to include commercial property

in your pension fund, a SIPP may still be relevant or

perhaps a personal pension policy with access to all

the unit trusts, investment trusts and quoted shares

available in the market place. Such a facility is available

within a wrap account. Please see the page on Portfolio Administration for more information.

We can help you with the investment portfolio construction

and create a portfolio to match your personal objectives.

The Investment Advice page explains our investment beliefs.

Especially in the 10 years ahead of retirement your

investment strategy should be reviewed. When you come

to take your pension benefits you will need to decide whether

to buy an annuity, take an unsecured pension or take phased retirement. Perhaps a combination of the alternatives available is best for you. The investment strategy you adopt in the years leading up to that decision should be determined according

to the likely option(s) you are likely to chose. If you don't know the difference between an annuity,an unsecured pension and phased retirement, then you certainly do need advice now.

Are you fully aware of all the pension issues?  Do you know how dramatically the rules change at age 75 and the difference between an unsecured pension and an alternatively secured pension? A wrong decision could cost you dearly - but we can help you make the right decisions!

Here we have just scratched the surface of some of the

issues surrounding pensions advice and retirement planning. There are so many angles and alternative investment

strategies that need to be considered for comprehensive

and in-depth advice and pension policies are by no means

the only way to save for retirement. If you would like us to advise you, whether for comprehensive SIPP and

investment advice, simple annuity purchase, or any

aspect of pension advice and retirement planning, please contact us now. We would love to hear from you.
